Week of November 9

Just a few reminders: There is no school on Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day.
Picture retakes are scheduled for Thursday, November 19.
Reading projects are due no later than Tuesday, November 17.
Reading logs are now to be filled out nightly to document time spent reading. Parent signatures for the first week are due on Monday.
Please return the conference forms that were sent home with my homeroom as soon as possible.
The field trip to Robert Crown went exceptionally well today. I am thankful for such a mature and kind group of students!!

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:

Math

Students will be reviewing for part two of the math test (which includes lessons 5 - 8 of chapter 4) on Monday. The test will be on Tuesday. Then we will begin decimals.
Language Arts
In addition to predicting, summarizing and visualizing, we will add inferencing to our strategy list for becoming better readers. On the 13th we will begin sharing our reading projects with the class.
English continues with nouns. In spelling, we will test on lesson 10 on Friday since we are off on Wednesday.
Social Studies
We will begin chapter 6 this week which is on life in the English colonies. Students will be able to start their Trade Fair projects in school.
Science
Our chapter 5 test is on Tuesday and on Thursday, we will participate in a Lima bean activity.
Have a wonderful week!
