Week of May 23, 2011

We have a busy week coming up!

On Monday, students are going to begin Junior Achievement. Tuesday, we will have an opportunity to enjoy the Lakeview Choir.

On Wednesday, students will be bowling from 9-11. Please send students with

a sack lunch that day.

Our pen pals from Elizabeth Ide are coming on Thursday afternoon.

On Friday, we will enjoy a pizza party for bringing in the most box tops this trimester. Way to go!!!

Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH

We have been reviewing comparing, ordering and rounding numbers; subtracting across zeros; estimating differences; money; and time. There will be a review quiz on these concepts on Monday.

READING

Students are creating their own "Jackdaw" on a book of their choice. This will require them to gather objects which will help others guess what the plot of their story is. They will also need to write a summary on their story. Students will present their "Jackdaw" to the class on Monday and Tuesday. Then we will begin a nonfiction study.

SPELLING

Lesson 26 covers more commonly misspelled words. All homework is due on Friday, May 27th when we will also have the final test.

ENGLISH

This week students will finish their expository paper.

SCIENCE

We will finish our unit on heat, light, and sound (chapter 14). Students will have a chapter 14 test on Friday, May 27th. They will receive a study guide on Monday, May 23rd when they will also take the lesson two open book review.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Students will be quizzed on the hemisphere unit we just finished on Monday, May 23. Study guides are in their binders.

Have a wonderful week!
