Week of May 16

Don’t forget to sign up for the 2 mile Walk Day on Tuesday, May 24th at Prairieview School. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the earthquake in Japan. There will also be a raffle to help raise money for the cause, and any donations would be appreciated. (gift cards, sport items, games, services, small goodies). Anyone who would like to volunteer on May 24th, please e-mail Mrs. Cavoto ccavot@ccsd66.org or Mrs. Sulima Ssulima@ccsd66.org to let them know. Thank you!

Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH

This week, we will spend time reviewing concepts covered earlier in the year. The skills we will practice include comparing, ordering, and rounding numbers, subtracting across zeros, estimating differences, money, and time. There will be a graded review on Friday, May 20 covering these concepts. On that day, there will also be a divided by 6 test.

READING

Students will be tested on comprehension and vocabulary for Two Days in May on Tuesday, May 17. Then, students will be creating their own "Jackdaw" on a book of their choice. This will require them to gather objects which will help others guess what the plot of their story is.

SPELLING

Lesson 25 covers commonly misspelled words. All homework is due on Friday, May 20 when we will also have the final test.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Our class will begin hemispheres this week.

SCIENCE

The unit on heat, light, and sound (chapter 14) will begin this week.

Have a wonderful week!
