Week of October 5

Hi parents and students! I am so impressed with how many magazine sales our class made! We came in first place! I'm so proud to be a part of such a hard working, motiviated group...Thank you for all of your efforts!

Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH
We are going to begin dividing this week! Please don't forget to continue practicing those math facts, however. The lesson is very short and we will be testing on this skill on Friday, October 9.
Language Arts
Our spelling lesson this week is on plurals formed with es, lesson 6. The posttest is on Thursday.
In english, we will focus on the importance of commas in our writing.
We will be starting a new novel this week, Jacob's Rescue, to continue our summarizing and predicting skills. We will also continue our focus on synonyms and antonyms.
For our vocabulary word of the week, students may be asking their parents for an example of how to use their word in a sentence. You may want to keep those dictionaries close - the words they choose are usually really good ones!
Social Studies
We're going to be taking a close look at the New European Colonies this week.
Science
As we begin chapter 5 on energy and ecosystems, we will be doing an activity which will require leaves of various shapes and sizes. Further directions will be given to the students this week.
Have a wonderful week!
