This upcoming week has a lot to look forward to! The Too Good For Drugs graduation ceremony is scheduled for Monday morning at 8:45.
Open House is on Thursday evening.
Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:
Homeroom
In Social Studies, we will continue with chapter 10 discussing a weak government after the Revolutionary War, the debate in Philly, and ratifying the constitution. Students will have an opportunity to recite the Preamble for a prize. I anticipate that we will be ready to test the week of April 20.
In Science, we are going to investigate the weather and water cycle. Please send in an empty tin can (soup can) for an experiment we will be holding.
We will be meeting preschool in the library on Thursday to read a book to them. Both classes are very excited. Fifth grade wrote the preschoolers an invitation and they have already RSVP'd. Have your student read to you for practice!
Math
We started our measurement unit with gallon gals and guys to help us remember the customary weight conversions. Next week, we will continue measurement by practicing customary length, metric length, and elapsed time.
Language Arts
Students will continue working on their poetry units in celebration of National Poetry Month.
Lesson 25 will be tested in Spelling.
In Reading, I am very excited to begin our book clubs. Students have been practicing some of the components, such as questioning and summarizing. When we have wrapped up all of the details, we will be able to dive into our books. Students know that the third trimester book projects and April/May vocabulary tests will be on the book they are reading for book club.
Have a great week!
