Week of December 8

Parents - there is no school on Friday, December 5.

If your family is able to donate gifts this year, the deadline is Wednesday, December 10.

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:

Homeroom
In Social Studies, we will be wrapping up Chapter 7 and will be testing on Thursday, December 11.
In Science, we will be examining solar, mechanical, electrical and sound energy. We will be testing on this energy unit the week of December 15.
Math
After we draw conclusions to problem solve, our class will be reviewing and then testing on Chapter 5 on Wednesday, December 10. Then we will round, add and subtract decimals.
Language Arts
Parents, it was so nice to meet with all of you this past week. Sometimes, I get so wrapped up in what we are doing in the classroom, I don't have a chance to regularly communicate with parents, so I thoroughly enjoyed my time with you. This week in Reading, we will begin self-questioning. Students should be continuously working on their vocab cards (something I forgot to mention during conferences) rather than cramming to memorize the words they have chosen right before their test. I told them that the best way to select words to be quizzed on are usually in the books they are reading nightly. Keep a pen and paper handy to write down unfamiliar words and then choose 10 to define.
Students need to have the book they are doing their project on this trimester approved on or by Thursday, December 18.
In English, we are continuing with verbs. In Spelling, we are testing on Lesson 13 on Friday, December 12.
Have a warm, safe weekend!
