Week of November 17 and 24

A note from the office: Announcing Prairieview 2008-2009 Yearbook. Order your yearbook today!!! The cost of the yearbook is $10.00 and make payments to Lifetouch. Order deadline date is December 1, 2008. No orders will be accepted after that date. Parents just a reminder-- Prairieview yearbooks are not paid for at registration. Please place your order now. Yearbook order forms went home with your child on November 13th and there a few extra envelopes available; please try not to lose them. If your child loses it, you can send an envelope with the following information on it: student’s name, teacher’s name and grade level along with a check made payable to Lifetouch for $10.00. It is very important that you put the information on the envelope; Lifetouch does not know who your child’s teacher is. There will be a limited supply in June. Order Today!!!




Here's the upcoming week in a nutshell:


Homeroom

In Science students will be tested on Chapter 14 on Monday, November 24. This week will be spent discussing chemical reactions and reviewing physical reactions, mass, density, and mixtures vs. solutions. Students who will be absent the week of November 24 understand that they must take the test on Friday, November 21.

In Social Studies, we just tested out of Chapter 6 and began discussing the Spanish moving North. A test on this chapter will not be until after Thanksgiving break.


Math

Before taking the test on Chapter 4 on Thursday, November 20, our class will explore inequalities and then spend some time reviewing. The week of Thanksgiving break we will be working with t-charts and having some Thanksgiving math fun.


Language Arts

In Spelling, the students will be tested on Thanksgiving words on Friday November 21. No spelling lessons will be given the week of November 24.

In English, we will be testing on Chapter 2 (nouns) on Thursday, November 20.

In addition to that, we will be writing An Ode to Tom Turkey, Turkey Triplets and responding to Thanksgiving story starters.

In Reading, we are going to continue inferring with a fun book Baloney and developing our extended response writing skills. Our Reading Party is scheduled for Friday November 21. Thank you to all of the parents who have offered to send a snack in with their child!!
