Week of November 3

We face a very important day this week. Many classes have been carefully following the election and all of the students at Prairieview will have an opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate on Monday. May the best man win!

Here's the upcoming week in a nutshell:

Homeroom

Science - What are physical properties and changes? No tests scheduled at this time.

Social Studies - Currently, the Chapter 6 test is schedule for Friday. There is a possibility that this will be pushed to Monday, November 10. The next current event is due Wednesday, November 5.

Math

We will be continuing with Algebra. I sent a letter home with an activity on the back that can be used to practice. The last two lessons have proven to be somewhat difficult, so I encourage you to review at home as much as possible. A quiz covering lessons 1-5 (writing and evaluating expressions, properties of multiplication and addition, and mental math using the properties) is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5.

Language Arts

We will be continuing our chapter on nouns in English. In Spelling, we will be testing on lesson 10 on Friday. In Reading, our focus will be on inferring and will begin this while reading A Boy Called Slow. My main goal the first week is to have students identify the difference between inferring and predicting.

Have a great week!
