Week of 1/26-1/30

Important Dates:

Monday 1/26 - Our class Spelling Bee, the winner and runner up will move on to compete in the 3rd grade Spelling Bee.

Wednesday 1/28 - 3rd Grade Spelling Bee, the winner and runner up will move on to compete in the Prairieview School Spelling Bee.

Friday 1/30 - 3rd Grade PRIDE assembly

Math:

In this upcoming week, we will continue to dive deeper in our work on chapter 7 (division). We will discuss long division, estimating quotients, and remainders.

Spelling: List 16

Monday - Pretest; Homework: Cursive worksheet
Tuesday - Homework: Non-challenge complete ABC order, Challenge complete one challenge activity
Wednesday - Homework: Non-challenge complete 10 sentences, Challenge complete one challenge activity
Thursday - Prepare for the final test
Friday - Final test for list 16

Social Studies:

We have just completed our unit on Local Government. We will soon begin Chapter 3 - People Move From Place to Place.

Science:

We will continue or work on Chapter 11 (Matter). This week we will focus on Lesson 3 - How Does Matter Change?

Language Arts:

We will continue our Traditions Unit. This week we will finish our work with the story The Keeping Quilt, and begin our work with the story When Lightning Comes in a Jar by Patricia Polacco. We will also continue our focus on verbs and prefixes/suffixes.

Note:

Today, we spent some time at the end of the day to clean our desks and binders. If you could please check with your child to make sure they remove any papers we no longer need at school, it would be much appreciated. Our binders have begun to overflow! :)

Clean Binders:
Social Studies - Empty (we will be beginning a new unit shortly)
Science - KEEP: ALL Chapter 11 (Matter) papers REMOVE: Everything else
Spelling - KEEP:Paper titled "All About Spelling" REMOVE: Everything else
Reading - KEEP: ALL Keeping Quilt papers, Traditions papers, Reading Menu REMOVE: Everything else
English: KEEP: ALL verbs and prefix/suffix papers REMOVE: Everything else
