Week of 1/12-1/16

Important Dates:

Wednesday 1/14: MAP Testing-Math
Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a good healthy breakfast & snack for testing!

Friday 1/16: Early Dismissal (11:00)

Monday 1/19: Martin Luther King's Birthday-No School

Math:

This week we will continue our work on Chapter 7 (division).

Spelling:

Due to our days off on Wednesday and Thursday, students were given the option to study List 14 more over the weekend and take the test on Monday. As a result, we will not start a new list this week.

Social Studies:

We will continue our work on Chapter 12 (Local Government). We will continue to discuss various ways an individual can make a difference in his/her community. The tentative test date for this chapter is Wednesday 1/21, a more definitive date will be posted later on.

Science:

We have begun our unit on Matter. This week we discussed Lesson 1: What is Matter? We will have a Lesson 1 Review on Thursday 1/15.

Language Arts:

We will continue our new unit called Traditions. This week we will continue our focus on the story The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco as well as our focus on verbs.
