Earth Day is Sunday, April 22. We will be celebrating on Friday, April 20. Students can wear an Earth Day T-shirt or the color green.
We have a very busy week coming up! Here are the details in a nutshell:
MATH
We've postponed our chapter 19 test. The new date is Thursday, 4/19. Useful study tools are the packet covering the chapter's concepts and the study guide/practice test. In addition, I am closing out the opportunity to take the divided by 2 test on Wednesday. The divided by 3 test was Friday, with an opportunity for a retake this upcoming Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
READING
I am anxious to get back into meeting with small groups. We will be doing so while working with poetry this week. The vocabulary test on the second set of words your child has chosen is on Tuesday. This will follow the same format as last week's in which students will be quizzed verbally.
ENGLISH
We will continue the study of unit 5 on capitalization and punctuation. A quiz on lessons 1-5 will be on Friday, 4/20. We will also begin a friendly letter writing unit. Students will learn about the parts of a letter. Then we will focus on editing friendly letters. On Monday, April 23rd students will have a friendly letter quiz. For the quiz students will need to edit a friendly letter.
SPELLING
Lesson 22 pretest is on Monday, with homework and final test on Friday. Homework for the non challenge group is ABC order and 10 sentences using all 20 words. **All homework must be in cursive.**
SCIENCE
The chapter 10 test on space is on Monday, 4/16.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will wrap up Chicago this week and begin chapter 3 in our books, which is on cultures/people move from place to place.
Have a wonderful week!
