Week of February 22

Parents and students: Next week (March 2, 3, 4 and 5) we will be ISAT testing. Please make sure students are eating a healthy, balanced breakfast and they are getting plenty of sleep during this week. Also, please make every effort to have students in school on the mornings of these dates.

No School on Monday, March 1!

Spring Conference forms went out on Thursday. Please send these back as soon as possible so I can develop my conference schedule. These conferences are held on an "as needed" basis.

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH

Over the next week, we will spend much of our time reviewing. Our review will include fractions, perimeter, area, volume and graphing. In addition, I will be introducing standard units and tools to measure length; conversions; and map interpretation.

No formal assessments are scheduled this week.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Our pretest in spelling on lesson 20 (words ending in -ary) is on Monday; final test is on Thursday.

We will be having writing conferences this week to discuss each student's strengths and areas for improvement.
Night of the Twisters will be wrapping up, but we have some projects to work on, as well as, an extended response. The final test on the novel is on Friday, February 26.
In addition, we will be discussing text structure, figurative language and order of events.
SOCIAL STUDIES
As we continue to discuss the Revolutionary War, we will be assembling Declaration of Independence quiz panels, and working on and sharing our patriot profiles (due Wed. Feb. 24).
Have a great week!
