Week of October 13

No school on Monday, October 13 in observance of Columbus Day

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:

Homeroom (Science/Social Studies)
In Social Studies, we will begin studying life in the English colonies by looking at some of the jobs colonists held. Then, the students will reenact the colonial times by having a trade fair. Each student will make an item that they will be able to trade with others. In addition, they will have to create a sign to advertise what they made. More information regarding the Trade Fair will be sent home.

In Science, we will be identifying some physical properties of matter, defining matter, atoms and molecules and looking at the three states of matter. Sound overwhelming? Don't worry! We will be having FUN while learning!

Math Group
After estimating with 2-digit divisors, practicing dividing with 2-digit divisors, and correcting quotients, we will have a quiz on Friday. This will cover chapter 3, lessons 1-9. Please remember to continue reviewing your math facts. Division is much easier when you are able to rattle off your math facts!

Language Arts Group

In addition to practicing our extended responses, our class will finally be starting our pen pal letters. They will be mailed out on Friday, October 17. We will continue focusing on summarizing as well.
