No school on Monday, January 21!
The Paul Revere presentation was WONDERFUL! Our class is full of natural talent! Job well done!
This is what our week will bring:
Reading - Pop Inside a Good Book book reports are due on Wednesday, January 31 - how is your child's pacing? Every night should include at least 20 minutes of independent reading. In February, we will be doing something a little different than our standard book reports - be on the lookout for directions sometime closer to the end of the month. Here's your hint: A non-fiction book about an African American will be necessary. Throughout the week, we will be preparing for ISATs by reviewing point of view, figurative language, purpose for reading and charts/graphs.
English - Because chapter 5 covers commas, abbreviations, titles and quotes, we will be writing to our pen pals at Paul Revere Middle School in Blue Island to incorporate these concepts. The chapter 5 test is on Friday, January 25.
Social Studies - We have just completed lesson 3 in chapter 8 and will be preparing for our test scheduled for Thursday, January 24. Students should be reviewing the notes they have taken throughout the chapter regularly.
Spelling - A pretest on lesson 16 (the silent h) will be on Tuesday and the final test will be on Friday. In addition, we will be taking one of the tests to determine eligibility for the Spelling Bee.
Science - We are continuing our study of Weather and will be discussing temperature and air pressure.
My math group: This week, our class is continuing with Geometry by studying congruent figures and transformations; looking at similar figures and problem solving using symmetry. No quiz this week.
This Friday, wear your favorite vacation spot t-shirt or sweatshirt.
Stay warm and well!
