The first Monday of the year!

Parents, thank you so much for coming to Curriculum Night last week! It was so nice to get to know some of you.

As we begin our first full week of the year, here are some of the things to come:

In Spelling, we are working on words with the suffix 'able'. Today is the pretest and if your child scores a 100%, they will receive a spelling contract indicating a variety of ways to earn 15 points in Spelling for the week. Our posttest will be on Friday.

English will have us reviewing the four kinds of sentences and covering subjects and predicates.

We are about halfway through The Kid in the Red Jacket. Some vocabulary words were introduced today and the students will be tested on these words when we complete the book. I'm expecting this and the final test to be next week; I will keep you informed on the exact date.

In Social Studies, we are going to finish up Lessons 1 and 2 this week. The test on these lessons will be on Wednesday, September 19. I plan to review with the class on Monday, however, due to the early dismissal on Tuesday we will not have an opportunity to review then.

On Friday, we are having an open note test on the Human Body including the digestive system.

I am in the process of researching math websites that are beneficial for practicing math facts. I will post those to my blog as soon as I find the ones I like.

Tuesdays are packed full with specials so please remember your hearty breakfasts!

Have a great week!
