Week of May 13, 2013

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
I  hope all of you get a little relaxation time over the weekend, as it is well deserved!  Perhaps you can call in sick to one of  your many jobs as nurse, counselor, dry cleaner, dish washer, cook, chauffeur, teacher, mediator, gardener, maid or activity planner. :)

An important reminder:  There is an early dismissal (11:00AM) on Friday, May 17.

Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH
On Monday, we will work with 4-digit divisors.  Tuesday is our CYP on chapter 12, lessons 5-8.  Then we'll learn about zeros in the quotient and greater dividends.  The chapter 12 test is on Friday, May 17.

READING/ENGLISH/SOCIAL STUDIES
We did not get to as much poetry as planned this past week, therefore our poetry vocabulary test is now on Wednesday, May 15.  I'm using greater blocks of time to cover more material and allow students to practice reading more difficult text.  As a result, much of our Social Studies topic of Egypt is carrying over to Reading.  We'll be exploring Tut's Mummy this week and preparing for the final Egypt test which is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22.

SCIENCE
Our focus this week will be on inquiry skills.  The test on "getting ready for science" is on Friday, May 24.

There will not be SPELLING homework this week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
