Week of February 11-15

WEEK IN A NUT SHELL
Tuesday February 12: Dental Hygiene Presentation in the morning

Thursday February 14: Valentine's Day Party at 1:30 p.m.
Candy will be sent home, we will not be eating any candy in class!
Please just sign Valentines, do not address to specific students to save us time when passing them out.


MATH
This week we will explore temperature and time. Students will practice renaming degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius. Students will learn how to calculate elapsed time. We will also practice solving multiple step word problems. Students should be practicing their division facts, Friday there will be a timed division test on 5's. Chapter 6 test will be given next week (February 19-22).

ENGLISH
We will continue to practice adjectives and adverbs. Students will take a test on Thursday, February 14.

SCIENCE
We will continue our unit on heat, light, and sound. A test will be given the week of February 18.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We will continue our unit on immigration. Culture day presentations will be Wednesday, February 13 - Friday, February 15. Students are expected to have a visual aide for their presentation.

READING
Our focus will be on suffixes. We will continue to expand our vocabularies by using prefixes and suffixes to change the meaning of words. During guided reading we have been reading the story Seal Surfer. A vocabulary test will be given on Wednesday, February 13. A comprehension test will be given on Friday, February 15. 

SPELLING
No spelling again this week as we continue studying prefixes and suffixes.
