Week of October 8, 2012

Please remember, there is NO SCHOOL on Monday.

Scholastic Book orders are due on Tuesday, October 9.

Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH
This week, students will estimate sums and differences; add and subtract money; check addition and subtraction; and problem solve.  There will be a Check Your Progress on Friday, Oct. 12.  The chapter 2 test is scheduled for Wed., Oct. 10.
If students did not pass the subtraction test today, they are able to retake the test on Monday for 4 out of 5 points.

READING
We will continue practicing inferring using our good fit books.  We will also infer the meaning of unfamiliar words.  There is a Mulan vocabulary test on Wednesday.  On Friday, students will take the comprehension portion of the Mulan test.  Throughout the week, we will practice writing extended responses as well.

ENGLISH
Students will present their Me Bags (Three Favorite Things) on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of next week.  They have written in their planner which day they are scheduled.  Please have them practice their presentations over the weekend.  I have provided the class with the rubric I will be using to grade them.
