Week of March 22

Maybe the snow will pass over us this weekend?

We have one full, busy week before we enjoy SPRING BREAK!!! A few announcements before the details of our upcoming week:

Naper Settlement is this Tuesday, March 23 - students need to bring a sack lunch clearly labeled with their name.

TGFD letters are due on Wednesday, March 24. The graduation, which I will remind parents of closer to the date, is scheduled for Friday, April 9.

Geospace is scheduled for Monday, April 12. Please send in the $9.75 at your earliest convenience.

Open House is Thursday, April 15 from 6:30 - 8:00.

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:
MATH
Students took an assessment on adding and subtracting fractions Friday. We need to continue working on this skill and will do so throughout the upcoming week. In addition, we will be adding and subtracting mixed numbers. I hope to quiz on this skill on Friday, March 26.
LANGUAGE ARTS
As we continue our study of China, we will be focusing on using non fiction text to practice the reading strategy of clarifying. China brochures are due on Friday, March 26.
As I have mentioned, TGFD essays are due on Wednesday, March 24.
We will continue working with adjectives in English. If you haven't already done so, please send a picture in of your child. If you do not have an 8x10 photo, I am able to enlarge a smaller photo on the copy machine.
The Spelling final test on lesson 23 will be on Thursday, March 25.
SOCIAL STUDIES
This week, we will continue working through chapter 10. Lesson two is on the debate in Philly about the problems within the government after the Revolutionary war. I have a fun activity planned to focus our attention on the main ideas of this lesson.
SCIENCE
Our focus will shift a little to the matter unit next week.
Have a wonderful week!
