On Monday, May 12, 5th grade will be going over to Lakeview Junior High to preview the school and some teachers. On Monday, May 19, Lakeview is holding an Open House. I hope to see all of you there!
In Reading, we are going to continue with Holes and will be taking a vocab/comprehension quiz for section 2 on Friday, May 16. The book has an excellent dual story line and makes for a great conversation. The students are really into this book, which is always such a delight.
The lesson 29 Spelling Test is scheduled for Friday. I have told my students that if they fail to do the spelling homework, which is always due on Thursday, their test grade will be reduced by 10 points (one letter grade).
In Social Studies, we are continuing with Chapter 12. We will be assembling Fortunately, Unfortunately books to cover Lesson 2 on "A New Kind of Revolution". The Chapter 12 test is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28. I have encouraged students to review their notes on a nightly basis. Some students have taken this advice and scored very high on the last test. Please keep up these responsible study skills!
We will be continuing Flight in Science.
My Math group: After we learn fractions in simplest form and comparing and ordering fractions, we will be testing on Chapter 9 on Thursday, May 15.
