Week of December 10...

Hello parents and students!

Every year during freezing temperatures and snow I think to myself, "Ah, how beautiful.....it would be to live in Florida."

Thank you so very much for all of your generous contributions to our family in need. I'm sure we are going to make one little girl and her family very happy this holiday season!

Too good for drugs started last week and will continue until January 16. Officer K. does an awesome job with our students!

Here's what to expect this week:

Reading – Students will finish reading Night of the Twisters and will have a comprehension test on Tuesday, December 11. A vocabulary quiz will be on Wednesday, December 12. I will also be introducing the Snow Globe project, in which students will choose a scene from the story to illustrate and write about. On Thursday, we will be watching Night of the Twisters to compare and contrast the movie and the book. Friday will begin our “Polar Express” unit. The following week, we will be doing ‘web quests’ in the computer lab and will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday, December 20.

Spelling – Students will be testing on words with the suffix –ous. Pages 54 – 55 will be due on Thursday with a posttest on Friday.

English – We are continuing with adjectives. Students will be tested on chapter 4 on Tuesday, December 18. We will also be making an adjective book with rare, interesting adjectives.

Social Studies – We will be reviewing for our test on Chapter 7, which is on Wednesday, December 12.

Math – There will be a checkpoint quiz on Tuesday, December 11 on Chapter 5, lessons 1-5. Please continue practicing math facts to reduce some of the anxiety associated with long division, which is coming up this week.

We are going to see the Nutcracker on Thursday, December 13.

Please turn in all field trip forms as soon as possible. (Bowling on 12/20; Tivoli on 12/21)
