Week of February 10, 2014

Our class Valentine party is on Friday from 1:30 - 2:30.  I am going to surprise the students with heart-shaped pizzas so maybe packing a lighter lunch would help?

Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH
Students are aware they are having the chapter 10 test on Tuesday.  We will then explore measurement in chapter 11.  Please continue practicing those facts.  My hope is to have all numbers complete by the end of the trimester (March 7).

READING
Students will be working on their African American snapshots project in class.  This is done after reading a nonfiction book of their choice and choosing 4 events to depict in a photo album they will create.

SPELLING
List 16 (adding endings)
Homework as follows:
Monday:  Cursive worksheet
Tuesday:  ABC order or challenge activity
Wednesday:  10 sentences using 20 words or challenge activity
Thursday:  study
Friday:  Final test

ENGLISH
We are continuing to work on our autobiographies.  Students will have a daily language review homework assignment each night this week.

SOCIAL STUDIES
We are continuing our study of Chicago.  There will be a quiz covering questions up to the "waterways" section of their packets next week (around Wed. or Thurs.) in which a study guide will be given.

SCIENCE
We are continuing our study of the planets.
