Week of April 11, 2011

Open House is on Thursday - hope you can make it! Here is our upcoming week in a nutshell:
MATH

Students began chapter 23 last week in which they multiplied by 2-digits. We are going review this before moving on to multiplying by 3-digits. I plan to test on these concepts on Wednesday, April 13. Mixed multiplication review test is on Friday, April 15.


READING

We are going to begin our unit on poetry this week focusing on stanza, rhythm and rhyme. There will be a poetry vocabulary quiz on Thursday, April 14.


SPELLING

The focus on lesson 21 is the VCCV (vowel, consonant, consonant, vowel) pattern. All homework is due on THURSDAY, April 14. The test will still be on Friday.


SOCIAL STUDIES

Please remember - the Chicago Mobile is due on Monday. Also, there is a history of Chicago quiz (study guides went home) on Tuesday, April 12.


SCIENCE

We will finally be picking back up with our study of energy this week. Discussions will include stored energy, kinetic energy and potential energy.
