Week of February 7, 2011

Due to school cancellations, many of our tests and quizzes have been rescheduled and are listed under each subject.

Valentine's Party - If your child is bringing Valentine's cards in for their classmates, please have them refrain from addressing each card. A simple signature works best to save time in passing the cards out - thank you!

Wednesday, 2/9 is the 100th day of school!

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:

MATH
Students will be taking the chapter 21 test on Monday, 2/7. The x7 test was on Friday; makeups will be given throughout this next week. The x8 test is the upcoming Friday, 2/11. We will begin Geometry this week in chapter 14 working with types of lines, angles, plane figures and quads.
SPELLING
This week we will focus on List 16: adding endings. The homework will be sent home Monday and due Friday. The graded test will be on Friday.

READING
We will continue working on all of our reading strategies, especially identifying main ideas and details as we use various reading materials (novels, short stories, and leveled readers). The photo albums students started on Friday are due on Friday, 2/11. They will have class time on Monday to work on this project.
ENGLISH
The verb test is on Wednesday, 2/9. Then we will begin friendly letter writing.
SCIENCE
The chapter 11 test on matter is on Tuesday, 2/8. The matter presentation from High Touch-High Tech was rescheduled for Monday, 2/14.
SOCIAL STUDIES
The chapter 3 test on immigration will be on Thursday, 2/10.
