Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:
MATH
There are only 3 days of math this week due to MAPS testing. Our class did an OUTSTANDING job on their addition timed tests!! We are now moving on to subtraction timed tests, so please continue practicing these facts with your child each night. This week, we will begin chapter 4 - subtraction.
READING
We start learning about cause and effect while reading the story, Cliff Hanger.
Practice makes perfect! Please make sure your child is reading every night.
SPELLING
We are on list 7 this week: the long o sound. We will take a pretest on Tuesday. Homework will be assigned throughout the week and due Friday. The final test will be Friday.
ENGLISH
In our descriptive writing unit, our class just finished sharing our mystery objects and creating similes. This week, we will continue this unit.
SCIENCE
On Thursday, October 14, our class will have an open book review of lesson 3 in chapter 9. This lesson primarily discusses clouds and how we measure weather.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Students will be researching a continent (on our laptop computers!) to find facts they will present to the class. Presentations will be done in groups of three.
Have a great 3-day weekend!!!
