Hi parents! Just a reminder that picture day is on Thursday, September 30 and forms will be coming home.
A few odds and ends: Third graders are invited to sign up for a free intramural program. During this program, students would stay after school and play games in the gym. Permission slips are available this week and due back to Mrs. Cushing by Friday. The program will start some time in October. Thank you to everyone who sent in cups, spoons, bowls, juice, and apples to help in our Johnny Appleseed birthday celebration! We had a great time!
MATH
We will be finishing ch. 2 this week. We will spend Monday reviewing for our test on Tuesday. Students were given a study guide on Friday, which they may have finished for me to grade so I can see which skills may need more attention. Our next unit will be ch. 3: Addition.
READING
We will begin working on making inferences this week. We will be using the story Mulan.
SPELLING
We will work on list 5: more long and short vowels. We will have a pretest Monday and the students will be given their homework each night. The test will be on Friday and homework will be due Friday.
ENGLISH
Students will write the final copy of their "Me" bag paper. Students will present the items in their "Me" bag to the class on September 29th and 30th. Then we will begin a descriptive writing unit.
SCIENCE
We will continue the study of weather. This week we will finish up lesson two and take an open book review on Friday.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will begin the study of continents and oceans.
