HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!
All this week Prairieview is collecting gym shoes in any shape and all other shoes that still have some life in them. We want to help cut down on the amount going into landfills. The shoes will be either donated to places that help people or will be sent to Nike's recycling center where they recycle gym shoes into a variety of objects including floor mats. Please tie the shoes together or put them in plastic grocery bags so that they do not become separated. Thank you for your support. At Prairieview School – Character Counts!

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:
MATH
After we test on perimeter on TUESDAY, we will begin area. Do you know the formula for figuring out the perimeter of a regular shape? What about an irregular shape?
LANGUAGE ARTS
We continue to practice the reading strategies and skills we have learned this year while we publish our poetry books and finish our self-selected books. Our final project will be a story element diagram.
The final spelling test on lesson 29 is scheduled for Thursday, May 13.
In English, we will continue with adverbs as we explore negatives, prepositions, and prepositional phrases. When is it appropriate to use well? good?
SCIENCE
We started energy, chapter 15 and will continue discussing solar, mechanical, electrical, and sound energy.
SOCIAL STUDIES
We are going to fit one more chapter in before the end of the year: Times of Change. This chapter explores the Industrial Revolution. The final test is scheduled for Monday, May 24. We will also be completing two fun projects as we work through this chapter.
As you can see, we still have a lot to accomplish before the end of the year. It's important we remain focused and continue to follow school rules - they don't change just because it's May :)
Have a great week!!
