Week of April 27

After read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, one on my students commented, "I think that little boy should have respected that tree more." I could not have agreed more. So, in honor of Arbor Day on Friday, our class planted a tree with the kindergartners. The tree was donated to us by Mrs. Schultz after our class donated 50 trees to the Amazon Rain Forest earlier this month.

Here's the upcoming week in a nutshell:

Homeroom

In Science, we are going to explore adaptation and symbiosis through two projects that students will enjoy.

Washington is now president in our study of the US government. We will be starting Chapter 11 this week.

Math

To continue our unit on measurement, our class will begin perimeter and circumference this week. The lesson is very short so I expect to test on this on Tuesday, May 5.

Language Arts

Students will be designing their poetry books this week so that we could display them in the library.

We are going to continue our study of pronouns.

In spelling, our lesson 27 test is on Friday.

Now that we have a feel for how book clubs work, we are going to begin another book club this week. Students will be excited to share what book they are reading next!

Have a great week!
