Week of December 15

This is our last week before holiday break...I can't believe how quickly time has gone!
We have a very busy week ahead of us:

On Monday afternoon, our cadet band will be performing for our school.

On Tuesday, fifth grade is going bowling in the morning.

On Friday, the school is going to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas in the afternoon.

Because of all the activities, I will only meet with my Language Arts group three times and my Math group four times.

Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:

Homeroom
In Science, we will be reveiwing all of the forms of energy.
In Social Studies, December's current event is due on Tuesday, December 16. We will be looking at the road to the Revolutionary War throughout the week.

Also, please remember that a sack lunch is recommended on Tuesday, December 16.
Math
My math group will continue working with decimals. This week we will be finding the sums and differences of decimals. We will not test on Chapter 6 until after break.
Language Arts
We are going to continue working on self-questioning using the book Running out of Time in Reading. Remember, book approvals for trimester 2's book project is due on Thursday, December 18. Also, we will be testing on vocab cards the week we return.
In English we will be practicing subject-verb agreement and having a review quiz on Thursday, December 18.
For Spelling, we have a holiday spelling list.
I want to thank all of you who generously donated to the families in need this holiday season. It was a great lesson for the students to see all of the wonderful gifts we were able to collect as the Prairieview community.

I hope that during this holiday season, you are with the ones you love and that you realize: This alone is the best gift. Have a safe, fun-filled break.
