IMPORTANT NOTES: There is an early dismissal on Wednesday, October 22. Fifth Grade is going on a field trip to see the Legend of Pocahontas on Friday morning. Please remember to send in a sack lunch that day in case we are not back by 11:30 for hot lunch.
Here is the upcoming week in a nutshell:
Homeroom (Science/Social Studies)
Junior Achievement is starting this week with Mr. Blocker. I am very excited to welcome him to our room on Monday afternoons for the next 5 weeks.
In Social Studies, we will hold our Trade Fair on Thursday, October 23. A note went home explaining what is expected for this project.
In Science, we will continue discussing atoms and molecules and will be making a model of each. The model may even be edible!!
My Math Group
We will be testing on Chapter 3 - Division - on Tuesday, October 21. I will not meet with my math group on Wednesday due to the early dismissal or on Friday due to the field trip. I do have a fun activity planned to practice our estimating skills, however!
My Language Arts Group
This week, we will be beginning Tall Tales. This will include visualizing, similes, metaphors and hyperboles. I'm looking forward to this unit very much!
Our pen pal letters will be mailed out on Monday and we will be reviewing for the Unit 5 test scheduled for Thursday, October 23.
Trimester 1 will be over before we know it. Is your little reader on track to reach their reading goal and turn in their book project on time?
